Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about Circa.

General Use

What is Circa?

Circa is a peer-to-peer platform that allows users to easily rent or barter items with people in their local community, promoting sustainability and saving money.

How do I list an item?

Click the "List Your Item" button, upload photos, provide a description, set an estimated value, choose your category, and agree to the terms. It's quick and simple!

How does bartering work?

When you find an item you're interested in, you can propose a barter instead of a cash rental. The owner can review your offered items and decide whether to accept the trade.

Can I rent items for cash?

Yes! While bartering is encouraged, owners can also set a rental price for their items if they prefer cash transactions.

How do I find items near me?

Use the search bar and filters on the Browse page. You can filter by category, price range, and location (using zip code) to find relevant items in your area.

Account & Security

Is Circa secure?

We prioritize safety. Features include user verification (optional), secure messaging, and an optional trustless escrow system for holding payments until transactions are complete.

What is the escrow system?

Our optional blockchain-based escrow service acts as a neutral third party. It holds the payment or agreed value securely and releases it only when both the renter/borrower and owner confirm the item has been exchanged and/or returned satisfactorily.

How do I create an account?

Click the "Sign Up" button, fill in your details (name, username, email, password), and agree to the terms. You can also sign up using Google (when enabled).

What if there's a dispute?

If using the escrow system, there's a built-in dispute resolution mechanism. For other transactions, we encourage direct communication first. If needed, contact our support team for assistance.

How is my personal information protected?

We take privacy seriously. Please review our Privacy Policy for detailed information on how we collect, use, and protect your data.
